We all know that dehydration can affect our performance. But working out how to avoid dehydration can be the tricky bit - unfortunately it’s rarely as simple as just drinking water.
Avoiding dehydration during exercise can be challenging because the amount of sweat and sodium lost during exercise can vary up to 15 times, even between similar individuals. Sodium is the main electrolyte we lose in our sweat and it can range from as little as 200mg to as much as 2,000mg per litre of sweat, and this variation is largely determined by genetics.
This is why a generic, "one-size-fits-all" approach to hydration doesn't work. Instead, we work with you to create a Personalised Hydration Plan tailored to your specific needs.
We use Precision Hydration Sweat Testing as part of our 45 minute consultation to create a Hydration Plan tailored to your physiology and your goals. The Sweat Test is a simple, non-exercise, and highly accurate process which tells us exactly how much sodium you lose in your sweat.
After your consultation, we’ll work with you to calculate your sweat rate across different exercise intensities and environmental conditions, creating a tailored hydration plan for whatever challenge you choose to take on next.
